Truth Wins Out

1792 Exchange

Springboro, OH

Revenue: $5,800,308

The 1792 Exchange is a non-profit organization dedicated to tracking and bullying public companies into abandoning fair employment practices. They seek to replace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) with (CDE), Conformity, Discrimination and Exclusion.

1792 Exchange claims to be “exposing bias”, when it is really imposing bias and demanding companies become fully certified as “right wing woke.” The 1792 Exchange is an extremist group that supports firing CEOs who hold liberal views, encourages corporations to withdraw donations from LGBTQ Pride events, and promotes Big Government targeting major law firms to hand over DEI data.

In 2023, the organization produced a :30 second television commercial that said, “When did doing business become more about culture wars and less about, well, business. Some companies today bring politics into the boardroom then into our living rooms…isn’t it time we got back to the business of business”?

1792 Exchange is disingenuous when it pretends to represent “common sense”, “all viewpoints”, “ideological balance” and “business neutrality”. The organization is a committed supporter of President Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda, and it is on the Advisory Board of Project 2025. The astroturf organization is a total fraud, in that it is a hardcore religious non-profit masquerading as a legitimate business group. Former 1792 Exchange CEO Paul Fitzpatrick described the organization as, “an alliance of families protecting Christian and conservative institutions and philanthropy.”

When the 1792 Exchange isn’t busy undermining corporate diversity, so America can return to the bad old days of the Good Ole’ Boys Network, it is irresponsibly crusading against Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment strategies, at a time climate change threatens the globe.

CEO, Daniel Cameron

Daniel Cameron is the current CEO of 1792 Exchange. He’s a former Attorney General of Kentucky (2019-2023) and in 2023 was the Trump-backed Republican nominee for governor who lost to Democrat Andy Beshear.

Ironically, Cameron is on a crusade to end DEI in corporations, yet at the top of his 1792 Exchange bio he informs us that, “he was the first black American elected to a standalone statewide office in Kentucky’s history.” It sounds like Cameron cut and pasted this from a corporate DEI handbook.

Cameron is a controversial figure who has made several divisive statements:

  • Abortion: In a 2023 interview, Cameron expressed support for Kentucky’s near-total abortion ban, which lacks exceptions for rape or incest. He stated: “I support the Human Life Protection Act as it currently stands.”
  • Transgender: During his failed gubernatorial campaign, Cameron had a bizarre obsession with attacking transgender Kentuckians. He remarked: “The governor [Beshear] has the audacity to lecture rural Kentuckians on right and wrong when he and Joe Biden can’t even tell the difference between a man and a woman.”
  • Breonna Taylor Case: As Attorney General, Cameron faced criticism for his handling of the Breonna Taylor investigation. He announced that the grand jury decided not to indict officers for Taylor’s death, stating: “Our investigation found that Mattingly and Cosgrove were justified in their use of force after having been fired upon by Kenneth Walker.”

But three grand jurors came forward alleging that Cameron’s team limited their scope and misled them about what charges they could consider. They claimed that the grand jury was not given the opportunity to deliberate on homicide charges against the officers involved in Taylor’s death. This decision led to widespread protests and calls for greater accountability in law enforcement.

1792 Exchange’s nefarious efforts have included:

  • Condemning Black Lives Matter: In March 2023, the 1792 Exchange responded to a Claremont Institute report highlighting substantial corporate pledges to Black Lives Matter (BLM) and related organizations. Then-CEO Paul Fitzpatrick remarked: “It’s a violation of fiduciary duty for corporations to use shareholders’ money to drive social change. It’s a scandal that corporations collectively pledged more money than the GDP of entire nations or many US states to divisive organizations.”

In truth, corporations support positive social change because it is good for business and builds brand loyalty. Companies also support diversity in their hiring practices because it helps them to attract the most talented employees.

  • Advocacy Against ESG Policies: The 1792 Exchange has actively opposed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investment strategies.  CEO Daniel Cameron told Politico, “Our view is that the age of virtue signaling is over.”

Unfortunately, the effects of climate change are decidedly not “over”, and the severe impact of global warming is being felt more acutely with each passing year. When the final chapter on climate change is written, the greed-based ideas and bankrupt principles of 1792 Exchange will be shown to have played a key role in damaging our planet and causing untold human misery.

1792 Exchange Funding

While the 1792 Exchange is not legally required to disclose its donors, available information indicates that several foundations have made significant contributions:

  • National Christian Charitable Foundation: $1,461,000 (2017; 2022–2023)
  • Christian Community Foundation: $1,000,000 (2022)
