We are saddened that Charlie Kirk was murdered in Utah. Obviously, such political violence is awful and unacceptable.
However, we can’t help wondering how Kirk would feel about the right’s warped interpretation of the 2nd amendment now. Where was the proverbial good guy with a gun to stop this?
Furthermore, Kirk peddled a toxic, angry, untruthful politics that undermines democracy.
It’s tragic and totally unacceptable that Kirk was shot dead. This is bad for our country, and we feel for his family.
But no one can honestly say that Kirk didn’t create, and traffic in, the bitter and violent political rhetoric that created the conditions for such violence.
May he rest in peace.
