Biden’s Contrast is Stark with Regressive Trump Administration
Delray Beach, FL — Today, Truth Wins Out celebrates President Joe Biden’s receipt of the prestigious impact award from the LGBTQ+ Victory Institute, honoring his decades of steadfast support for LGBTQ rights, human dignity, and equality for all Americans.
“They’re trying to turn it into something scary, something sinister,” Biden said at the event. “But folks, it’s not really about anything that’s all that complicated. At its core, it’s about giving every American an opportunity to be treated with the basic decency, dignity and respect they all deserve.”
As the Biden administration steps into history, the award underscores a record unmatched in modern American politics — one built on respect, inclusion, and protecting vulnerable communities.
“President Biden has shown time and again that LGBTQ people are not collateral damage in culture-war politics — they are an essential part of what makes America just, strong and compassionate,” said Wayne Besen, Executive Director of Truth Wins Out. “His leadership says loud and clear: dignity and respect for all Americans must be non-negotiable.”
The Biden record speaks for itself. Under his leadership, the federal government took concrete steps to safeguard civil rights for LGBTQ people. The administration restored protections for transgender Americans, appointed barrier-breaking gay and trans officials, and reaffirmed that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity will not be tolerated.
This commitment stands in stark contrast to the alarming trajectory under Donald Trump, who has fully embraced Project 2025. As Trump and his allies roll back critical protections — including rescinding executive orders that recognized LGBTQ nondiscrimination rights and advancing policies increasingly embraced by white-supremacist and extremist movements — the difference could not be clearer.
In a particularly egregious slap in the face, the Trump administration stopped commemorating World AIDS Day. This highlights Trump’s lack of empathy and outright hostility for the LGBTQ community.
“For too many Americans, Trump’s return means regression — an erosion of rights, dignity, and safety,” Besen continued. “While President Biden built bridges, Trump bulldozed them. While Biden lifted up our communities, Trump genuflected to hate. We must stand up and fight back to protect our hard-won gains, and build upon them.”
