Republicans Must Pull the Plug on Trump’s Presidency

Donald Trump’s babbling, bloviating, bigoted speech at the Davos World Economic Forum removed all reasonable doubt. The President of the United States is certifiably insane. The event organizers would have done the world a huge favor by removing him from the stage with a butterfly net.
It is time to pull the plug on Donald Trump’s failed presidency, and every moment he remains in office is an existential crisis. He is America’s top national security threat and an intolerable menace to global stability. Trump should not be on the world stage humiliating our country. He belongs in the funny farm, locked in a padded room, wearing a straitjacket, and pumped daily with syringes full of lithium.
In the runup to Trump’s surreal screed, he threatened to invade Greenland. His primary reason for wanting to annex the island, which he regularly confuses with Iceland, is that he didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize.
It’s worth showing the entire letter Trump sent to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre on January 18 to grasp the level of our President’s mental derangement. We are talking about an emotionally disturbed toddler ready to start a war because he didn’t win a trophy that he didn’t earn:
Dear Jonas:
Considering your country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America.’
Denmark cannot protect that land [Greenland] from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also.
I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland.
Thank you!
President DJT
Støre gently reminded Trump that Norway does not control the Nobel committee, but the American man-child was having none of it.
“If anybody thinks that Norway doesn’t control the Nobel Prize, they’re just kidding. They have a board, but it’s controlled by Norway, and I don’t care what Norway says,” whined Trump.
It’s also worth noting that Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark, not Norway. But I suppose they are just another style of Viking, in Trump’s rapidly deteriorating mind.
Trump’s Greenland fixation caused the markets to spiral on Tuesday—which may have caused him to back-off on his threat of direct military action during his Davos speech. However, he repeatedly berated Europe, calling various countries “ungrateful”, and promised to take Greenland one way or another. Since it’s not for sale and America already has access to Greenland for military use, it seems Trump will eventually circle back to using military coercion.
If this national mortification occurs, no American soldier should take part. They joined the United States military to become proud soldiers tasked with defending the U.S. Constitution and global freedom. They have no obligation to pledge loyalty to a delinquent criminal who is desperately trying to transform our armed services into a mercenary pirate armada.
We already saw Trump’s nefarious designs for plunder when he exploited our military—not to reinstate democracy or bring freedom to the Venezuelan people—but to install a Maduro puppet to steal oil.
Ret. Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling is correct when he says that if Trump invades Greenland our soldiers should decline to follow orders. “If it were to happen tomorrow, then yes … it would be illegal, in my view, to do that. I’d refuse. It’s an illegal order.”
The Democrats need to bang home that message until it reaches every man and woman in uniform. We need to mentally train the troops to think through the implications now, so they don’t ruin their lives by committing war crimes against our allies.
They need to be unequivocally told, “You will go to prison once we regain power. Saying ‘I’m just following orders’ will not be an excuse.”
Already suffering from a severe case of malignant narcissism, Trump’s grandiosity spiked after he plucked President Nicolas Maduro out of Venezuela. If he is allowed to take Greenland without a fight, he will feel invincible. This will certainly lead him to swallow the Panama Canal.
Ever since Trump survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, he has felt like God spared him for a reason. This impulse has been exacerbated by the fringe Pentecostal pastors that surround him, who keep preaching to Trump that he is a man of destiny and a key part of God’s plan.
This sense of messianic mission leads me to believe that if Trump annexes Greenland and the Panama Canal, he will feel emboldened to invade Canada, which could easily spiral into World War III.
In fact, Trump shared an AI edited map of America on social media that included Greenland, Canada and Venezuela. His allies, and much of the media, will foolishly dismiss this as trolling, but given his deteriorating mental state, it’s more likely foretelling of our future.
European leaders need to stop acting like chumps. I agree with California Gov. Gavin Newsom when he said, “I can’t take this complicity. People rolling over. I should have brought a bunch of knee pads for all the world leaders … it’s just pathetic.”
It’s time for Europe to make it clear to Trump that if he invades Greenland, they will immediately cut off all trade, leading to a stock market meltdown. They should also impart that they are willing to go to war to defend the island.
While Europe can’t outright defeat America, their combined forces are formidable and could make the costs of invasion prohibitive. A Quinnipiac University poll found that only 9% of U.S. voters say they support the U.S. trying to take Greenland by military force. This would drop to close to zero if an American attack meant body bags and a Great Depression.
Trump’s speech at Davos makes it clear that he is an unhinged madman who lives in an alternative reality. He simply can’t be reasoned with, so why bother.
Case in point: When French President Emmanuel Macron wisely refused to join Trump’s latest scam—his Board of Peace—Trump threatened France with 200% tariffs on wine and champagne.
To join the so-called Board of Peace, countries are asked to fork over $1 billion, which will be controlled by Trump, a notorious con artist whose family had funneled money from a children’s cancer charity into their businesses. This sham organization is a rogue’s gallery of bloodthirsty reprobates, with Trump offeringmembership for Russia’s Vladimir Putin and Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko. What a sick joke.
In his Davos speech, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney painted a dire portrait of our future. He imagined a world where civilized countries simply moved on from American belligerence and arrogance. It would leave our nation more isolated and universally hated, as well as significantly poorer, with international investment leaving our shores for more trustworthy, stable nations.
“The middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu,” Carney said. “There is a strong tendency for countries to go along to get along. To accommodate. To avoid trouble. To hope that compliance will buy safety. It won’t…. “The old order is not coming back. We should not mourn it. Nostalgia is not a strategy.”
The only reason that European leaders haven’t already told us to “get lost” is because they need to buy time to rebuild weapons factories. If the U.S. walked away today, NATO countries would be vulnerable to Russian attack.
However, Trump’s “Disaster at Davos” focused European minds on the new reality: Trump wouldn’t lift a finger to help against a Russian invasion. He’d be more likely to take Russia’s side and blame Europe for Putin’s aggression, just like he did with Ukraine.
Until Trump is gone, the U.S. is not an ally—it is an enemy to be feared. America has gone to the dark side—having more in common with fascists than those who support freedom, and more in line with dictatorships than democracies.
Forget what’s happening abroad. The leaders at Davos see how a brutal, unaccountable ICE is being unleashed in American cities, where immigrants and citizens alike are being terrorized by masked secret police.
The President even threatened the Insurrection Act. Let’s be clear, Trump would not be invoking the Insurrection Act. Instead, he would be provoking an illegal act of federal insurrection against an American city. That he would flood the streets with armed units from southern states like Texas, would bring us to the brink of civil war.
Tragically, there is almost no chance that this monstrosity is going to get better with Trump in the White House. The president is indisputably a raving lunatic with no guardrails, as well as the leader of a violent political cult. He is backed by a subservient right wing media echo chamber, a compliant Supreme Court and a bootlicking Congress—as evidenced by the growing number of Republicans who are suddenly banging the drums of war for a Greenland invasion.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to be optimistic about our options. We are still dependent on these Republican leaders finding the courage and strength to do what’s right. While we have no choice but to keep pushing them, we must acknowledge that it’s as likely as a hippo going on a diet. It’s far more likely that they will continue flooding the media with shameless, gaslighting apparatchiks absurdly claiming that Trump’s lunacy is four-dimensional chess.
Okay, and a pile of horseshit is filet mignon, whatever you say.
Our next option is to win the midterm elections. However, given Trump’s criminal mind and increasingly crazy mindset, I’m not hopeful that he will accept the results if Republicans are swept out of office, as I suspect they will be. Trump will disingenuously cry “fraud” and declare martial law if challenged.
This will force millions of Americans into the streets—which may lead to the storming of the White House gates, French-Revolution-style. Trump would undoubtedly call for lethal military force to hold back protesters. We don’t know how the military would react to such orders.
All bets are off on what would happen next. Maybe, the tyrant and his minions will be deposed? Or perhaps the patriotic protesters would be unceremoniously crushed, like what we are now witnessing in Iran? If this occurs, we will officially become subjects of a police state rather than citizens of a democracy.
Davos confirmed for the entire world that America’s leader is completely batshit crazy and totally out-of-control. They also understand that he has surrounded himself with selfish, nasty, enabling sycophants who curiously call his lunacy “genius”.
Either Trump’s presidency or American democracy survives, but they are incompatible. At this point, it’s doubtful that our country will come out of this historic error healthy and whole. MAGA is a cancer, and the cure is its removal. Until this occurs, our country will remain in crisis and the world will anxiously sit on the precipice of ruin.
