Truth Wins Out

Truth Wins Out is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that works to advance liberty and democracy, protect the rights of LGBTQ people and other minorities, combat religious extremism, and fight against the spread of disinformation.

On September 18, TWO harshly criticized the Department of Education, under the leadership of Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, for partnering with radicalized extremists as part of the DOE’s newly launched “America 250 Civics Education Coalition.” This shockingly included 20 groups that are on Project 2025’s Advisory Board–signifying that they are part of a 900 page plan to disfigure democracy and remake America as a Christian Nationalist nation.

On October 1, Truth Wins Out will be releasing, “Behind the Mask: The Project 2025 Organizations Reshaping America.” Our report reveals that any group that is on Project’s 2025 Advisory Board is unfit, by definition, from teaching civics. We found that many Project 2025 groups included in “America 250 Civics Education Coalition” were part of “Stop the Steal” and other efforts fundamentally at odds with civics and democracy–such as not believing in the separation of church and state. These groups also believe in discrimination.

While there were initial news reports on DOE’s new Orwellian effort, significantly more needs to be written about it. This should not be a one day story, and given what the 20 Project 2025 groups included stand for, it’s beyond preposterous that they have been embraced by the U.S. government. Take a look and judge for yourself:

Alabama Policy Institute

  • API dabbles in a predictable array of right-wing issues. They are in favor of voter suppression, which they euphemistically call “Election Integrity”.
  • After a 2016 sex scandal involving Alabama’s governor, API Vice President Katherine Robertson criticized the governor’s female aide for alleging sexism. “The affair culture requires professional women to carefully navigate their friendliness, their feminism, their tone, and, of course, their appearance,” Robertson wrote, dismissing the aide’s claim of gender bias as a “desperate diversion.”

Alliance Defending Freedom

  • “[ADF] has spent decades fighting what it calls the ‘myth’ of the separation of church and state.” – Description of ADF’s mission from the group’s own website, as noted by media (2023). ADF’s founders explicitly reject the idea that the Constitution requires a strict separation between church and state.
  • “Public schools…are a godless monstrosity, and, contrary to popular belief, are unnecessary for democracy to function.” – Michael Farris, ADF CEO (2017–2022), expressing his view on public education’s role in society (as reported from a 1993 campaign piece)
  • After the 2020 presidential race, ADF chief Michael Farris played a “behind-the-scenes” role in the Texas v. Pennsylvania lawsuit seeking to invalidate millions of votes in key swing states. Emails revealed Farris circulated drafts of the complaint and urged Republican state attorneys general to act. (This extraordinary attempt to nullify a democratic election – characterized by experts as “frivolous at best”)
  • “If someone’s trapped in a homosexual lifestyle, it’s dangerous.” – Mike Johnson, promoting ADF’s Day of Truth campaign, San Francisco Chronicle, 2006

American Center for Law & Justice

  • Immediately after President Trump’s election loss, an official ACLJ petition from November 2020 claimed, “Kamala, the radical Left, and the Deep State are plotting to enshrine every socialist policy they can before Inauguration Day.” It went on to accuse Trump’s opponents of “unconstitutional subversion of our democracy,” alluding to Trump’s impeachments and legal battles. The same petition asserted that Biden’s team was “plotting to ramp up the war on our Christian faith, Israel, and unborn babies”

American Cornerstone Institute

  • ACI launched the “Little Patriots” program, offering educational materials that promote a patriotic perspective on American history.  At an Oct. 2023 lecture, Dr. Ben Carson recited Vladimir Lenin, “Give me your children to teach for four years and the seed that I sow will never be uprooted.” He used it to emphasize how values learned young have lasting impact.
  • “Our young people are suffering from historically high rates of depression and drug abuse, abandoning religion, identifying with LGBT lifestyles at historically high rates and so much more. And on top of it all, young couples aren’t even starting families and having children anymore, ushering in a population collapse that no nation can survive.” – Ben Carson on Fox News website, May 2024

American Legislative Exchange Council

  • ALEC came under scrutiny for promoting model legislation related to voter ID laws, voter roll purges, and other measures perceived as restricting voting rights.
  • “I don’t want everybody to vote… our leverage goes up as the voting populace goes down.”– Paul Weyrich, ALEC Co-founder

Context: Paul Weyrich, a New Right strategist who helped found ALEC, bluntly told a gathering of evangelical leaders that conservative power is greater when fewer people vote. This candid admission of suppressing voter turnout has since been widely cited as a blueprint for voter ID laws and other restrictions ALEC later championed. Critics point to Weyrich’s quote as clear evidence of an anti-democratic agenda. It foreshadowed ALEC’s push for stringent voting laws in the 2000s, which civil rights groups condemned for disenfranchising minorities

  • “White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization – how did that language become offensive?”—Steve King, Iowa Congressman, ALEC Alum

Context: Longtime Congressman Steve King, an ALEC alum known for echoing ALEC’s hardline immigration stances, openly questioned why terms identifying white supremacists are considered pejorative. In a January 2019 New York Times interview, King lamented that society now frowned upon those labels.

  • “I’ve said we need to build more gallows…use a newly built set of gallows to make an example of these traitors who have betrayed our country.” — Wendy Rogers, Arizona Sen., ALEC Affiliate

Context: Speaking at a white nationalist conference (AFPAC) in February 2022, State Sen. Rogers – a vocal ALEC-aligned lawmaker – fantasized publicly about executing political opponents. In a fervent address to followers of a young extremist leader, Rogers called his crowd “patriots” and suggested hanging “high-level criminals” and “traitors” – alluding to those who refused to overturn the 2020 election – as a warning to others. She also praised the organizer, who advocates an all-white America, as “the most persecuted man in America.”

American Moment

  • American Moment is possibly the most dangerous organization you’ve likely never heard of. It says its mission is “to identify, educate, and credential young Americans who will implement public policy that supports strong families, a sovereign nation, and prosperity for all.” The goal is to, “create personnel who will implement our priorities in government, business, and public policy organizations.”
  • Vice President J.D. Vance is on its Emeritus Board, as well as James Braid, Director of White House Legislative Affairs. Terry Schilling, President of The American Principles Project is on its Board of Advisors. Presidential Advisor Stephen Miller has been a guest speaker.

One lesson is an article by American Moment, “America Must Replace Its Failed Elites”. It was published in the American Mind, a publication of the extremist Claremont Institute. It is an instructive piece on the Trump Administration’s ongoing firing spree at agencies across federal agencies:

  • Our incumbent ruling class has substantially destroyed American society. Now we must build anew.
  • The question then remains: who will fill these thousands of positions? Ideally, young people who understand the great challenges of our time and are prepared to meet them. Making sure this happens is our primary goal at American Moment.
  • President Trump was a prominent outsider. That was key to his success. Now we need an entire cadre of young Americans motivated by the same values he represented to rise to the occasion and lead.
  • We won’t achieve our goals overnight. Identifying, educating, and credentialing young leaders will take time. But we are persistent. With the hundreds of prospects that we’ve already identified, we can start to create a new cohort constantly fed by new talent—that is eager to serve our nation and serve it well.
  • In March 2021, the conservative magazine National Review published articles critiquing American Moment. One piece described the organization as “thoughtless” and criticized its willingness to embrace “fringy and irresponsible” elements within the right. Another article questioned the organization’s complaints about conservatism, suggesting they seemed “somewhat disingenuous — and self-serving.”
  • Saurabh Sharma, American Moment’s co-founder, espoused an anti-feminist, pronatalist stance when discussing political leaders. He argued that having leaders like Kamala Harris or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – who have no children – “is no path forward for civilization, because ultimately, those people are out for themselves.”

American Principles Project

  • “[Conservative] activists quickly realized that the only way they could keep donations rolling in is by making the effort to restrict voting access the ‘center of gravity’ in the party.” — Frank Cannon (APP Founding President)
  • Context: In a private strategy meeting (reported in March 2021), Cannon openly acknowledged the push for new voting restrictions after the 2020 election. He suggested that rallying around tightening election laws – which critics call voter suppression – had become central to GOP fundraising and energy. This candid remark was highlighted in media reports as an admission of anti-democratic strategy, essentially prioritizing partisan gain over voting rights. Voting-rights advocates and nonpartisan watchdogs pointed to Cannon’s quote as evidence that APP and similar groups were promoting the baseless “voter fraud” narrative to justify disenfranchising measures.

Center for Renewing America

  • Federal Investigation of Jeffrey Clark: In June 2022, federal agents searched the home of Jeffrey Clark, CRA’s Director of Litigation and a former Department of Justice official, in connection with efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results. This incident drew attention to CRA’s involvement in controversial post-election activities.
  • Jan. 6 and Democracy: Russell Vought characterized those charged in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack as “political prisoners,” claiming federal agencies “are keeping political opponents in jail”.
  • “The stark reality in America is that we are in the late stages of a complete Marxist takeover of the country…our adversaries…have aimed [the government] at us. And they are going to continue to aim it until they no longer have to win elections.” – Russell Vought
  • “We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. When they wake up in the morning, we want them to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains. We want their funding to be shut down so that the EPA can’t do all of the rules against our energy industry because they have no bandwidth financially to do so. We want to put them in trauma.”– Russell Vought, private speeches obtained by Pro-Publica

Context: Russell Vought, an architect of 2025 wants to gut the federal government. His quote foreshadowed Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which fired tens of thousands of federal workers. His comments were caught on video.

  • “I want to make sure that we can say, ‘We’re a Christian nation. And my viewpoint that I would probably be Christian nation-ism. That’s pretty close to Christian nationalism.” – Russell Vought secretly recorded in video by the Center for Climate Reporting

Claremont Institute

In 2023, The New Republic dubbed Claremont, “The Anti-Democracy Think Tank” and said, “It was once (mostly) traditional conservative and (sort of) intellectually rigorous. It now platforms white nationalists and promotes authoritarianism.”

The writer of the New Republic article, Katherine Stewart, is an author and expert on the far right. She explains Claremont’s dark and sinister turn during the Trump era:

Claremont was always very right-wing, just on the edge of respectable. But in the age of Trump, it has become something America hasn’t seen before: an openly anti-democracy think tank…In embodying a kind of nihilistic yearning to destroy modernity, they have become an indispensable part of right-wing America’s evolution toward authoritarianism.

Claremont represents something new in modern American politics: a group of people, not internet conspiracy freaks but credentialed and influential leaders, who are openly contemptuous of democracy.

“[The Claremont Institute] has little interest in learning from the study of the past. They are driven instead by the hatred of groups or aspects of life in the present that they map onto a fictional narrative involving an imaginary past. This isn’t intellectual history; it is cartoon history, rooted in some kind of reactionary pathology.”

Conservative commentator Bill Kristol notes:

“They are not just against the legalization of same-sex marriage. They are so extreme they are for permitting gender discrimination in salaries, changing divorce law to what it was 70 years ago, for criminalizing homosexuality. They don’t want to say that because of political reasons, but certainly you don’t get the sense that they feel any compulsion to restrain their extremist rhetoric.”

  • One article in the American Mind, a Claremont publication, is headlined, “End Mass Immigration and White Stigmatization to Boost Assimilation”. The article’s author, Jeremy Carl, a Senior Fellow at the Claremont Institute, wrote, “In America, it is beyond dispute that the far Left is pursuing and celebrating its own Great Replacement. White Americans need not apologize for our desire not to be replaced.”
  • The Claremont Institute’s Michael Anton interviewed right wing ideologue Curtis Yarvin, who supports installing a dictator, known as a Red Ceasar, to lead America. Anton is amenable to the idea and this autocratic concept increasingly guides CI’s efforts.
  • “We know there was fraud… dead people voted” – John C. Eastman, speech at the January 6 “Save America” Rally

Context: Trump rally in Washington, D.C. (Jan. 6, 2021). Speaking to the crowd alongside Rudy Giuliani before the Capitol attack, Eastman repeated false claims that the 2020 election was stolen. He asserted “we know there was fraud” and that “dead people voted,” and even alleged voting machines had a “secret folder” of illegal ballots – all of which, he said, challenged “the very essence of our republican form of government.”

He then urged Vice President Mike Pence to delay certifying the election. Eastman’s inflammatory lies – coming just before rioters stormed Congress – drew sharp rebuke, with many blaming his rhetoric for helping incite an assault on democratic institutions. Within days, Eastman resigned under pressure from his university position.

  • Publication of “The Flight 93 Election” Essay: In 2016, the institute’s Claremont Review of Books published an essay titled “The Flight 93 Election” under a pseudonym, later revealed to be Michael Anton, a former National Security Council spokesman under Trump. The essay likened the 2016 election to the hijacked Flight 93 on 9/11, arguing that conservatives had to “charge the cockpit” by supporting Trump to prevent national disaster. This piece was widely criticized for its alarmist rhetoric.
  • Association with Extremist Figures: The Claremont Institute has faced criticism for its associations with individuals linked to far-right ideologies. Notably, it granted a fellowship to Jack Posobiec, known for promoting the Pizzagate conspiracy theory. Additionally, the institute has hosted Charles Haywood, who has expressed extremist views and aspirations to lead an “armed patronage network” following a potential societal collapse.
  • Questioning Kamala Harris’s Eligibility: In 2020, senior fellow John Eastman authored an op-ed questioning Vice President Kamala Harris’s eligibility for office based on her parents’ citizenship status at her birth. This piece was widely condemned as a baseless birtherism attack.
  • Criticism from the American Political Science Association (APSA): The APSA faced internal criticism for allowing the Claremont Institute to participate in its 2024 annual meeting. Some members highlighted the institute’s role in supporting Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election as grounds for exclusion.
  • Published an article by misogynist Raw Egg Nationalist: While posing as a scholarly organization, CI published an article Dr. Charles Cornish-Dale, who goes by the name Raw Egg Nationalist” (REN) because he advocates a diet primarily of raw eggs. REN wrote, “We have it drilled into us, this instinctive revulsion for inequality in any form. And actually, I think we need to ask instead whether inequality has its uses…Maybe men and women shouldn’t work together in the same spaces.” On Black Lives Matters protesters, REN said, “All of these people look the same. I mean, they are hideously ugly, malformed people.”
  • “Most people living in the United States today—certainly more than half—are not Americans in any meaningful sense of the term.” – Glenn Ellmers (Claremont senior fellow), The American Mind

Context: “Conservatism” Is No Longer Enough” essay (March 24, 2021). Ellmers’s essay argued that the nation had been fatally corrupted by internal enemies. He bluntly asserted that a majority of US residents “can no longer be considered fellow citizens,” effectively declaring them un-American.

  •  “Every effort must be made not to recruit women into engineering, but rather to recruit and demand more of men who become engineers. Ditto for med school, and the law, and every trade.”– Scott Yenor, Claremont Institute

Context: Yenor, an apostle of “manliness”, made this statement at the National Conservatism Conference in Orlando, Florida. When Yenor was hired at Claremont two years later to work at the group’s Florida office, Ron DeSantis’s wife, Casey, tweeted her support for Yenor’s appointment, saying, “Thrilled to welcome @scottyenor from the Claremont Institute to his new home in Tallahassee.”

  • “Given the promise of tyranny, conservative intellectuals must openly ally with the AR-15 crowd…Able-bodied men, no longer isolated, are returning to republican manliness in a culture of physical fitness and responsible weaponry. They are buying AR-15s and Glock 17s and training with their friends, not FBI-infiltrated militias or online strangers but trustworthy lifelong friends to build a community alongside.” – Kevin Slack, Hillsdale College Professor

Context: This outrageous, violent quote was part of a book excerpt published in Claremont’s online magazine, The American Mind. Indisputably, Claremont Institute is agitating for political violence.

Concerned Women for America

  • Democracy/Elections: Following the January 6th, 2021 Capitol insurrection, CWA’s Penny Nance condemned the violence but simultaneously lent credence to the baseless election-fraud narrative. She tweeted, “Lawlessness is not a Christian, conservative value… We are better than this as a nation. Stop it.” And in the same statement: “I know good, peaceful people who came to DC to exercise their First Amendment rights in reaction to voter fraud, but they needto go home now.”
  • CWA wants the DOE to ‘Turn off the Lights’: “The Department of Education was established to ensure quality in education, but it has instead created a tangle of bureaucracy that wastes tax dollars and prevents students from getting the education they need to succeed in life. It’s time to turn off the lights and get Washington special interests out of the business of educating our children.”

Conservative Partnership Institute

CPI views its mission as providing a home base and a networking hub for conservatives in Washington, DC. The Guardian describes CPI as “the nerve center of the Maga movement” and the “incubator” that is credited with “birthing a MAGA galaxy”.

The publication says that CPI “enlisted its own network of affiliated organizations along with like-minded far-right organizations – some classified as hate groups by experts – as well as individual extremists to promote anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-vaccine policies, along with others premised on the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump.”

Heidi Beirich, co-founder and chief strategy officer at the Global Project against Hate and Extremism, said speakers featured at CPI events included some “seriously extreme people”, and indicated “how far right the MAGA movement has become”.

White Nationalist Bootcamp: In March 2023, CPI hosted an Immigration Policy Bootcamp with shady figures.

  • Speakers included Mark Krikorian, Art Arthur and Jon Feere from the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS), along with Roy Beck, founder of Numbers USA. Both organizations are strands in a web of anti-immigration groups originally founded or influenced by John Tanton, which advocate for restrictive immigration policies. CIS is designated as an anti-immigrant hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Heidi Beirich, who studies and fights extremism said that listing was “richly deserved” and that CIS and Numbers USA “have their roots in John Tanton’s White Nationalism”. Along with other speakers at the events, Beirich said, their presence indicated that “there doesn’t seem to be any line of impropriety on the Maga right”.
  • CPI became closely tied to efforts to challenge the 2020 election results. Notably, Mark Meadows was involved in Trump’s efforts to overturn the results.
  • CPI provided support and infrastructure for groups involved in post-election activism that culminated in the January 6th Capitol riot.
  • CPI was labeled by Media Matters and other watchdog groups as part of the “command center” of the insurrectionist right.

Eagle Forum

  • EF calls abortion pill ghastly: “Many of the abortions Planned Parenthood reports to have “performed” were not surgical abortions done in their clinics but ghastly do-it-yourself “medication” abortions where drugs, like mifepristone, are shipped directly to a pregnant woman who is never even seen by a doctor or nurse.”
  • Planned Parenthood condemned for gender affirming care: “It is not only abortion that is a priority for Planned Parenthood, but they also profit from the horrendous practice of providing ‘transgender services’ to young people.”

First Liberty Institute

  • Opposition to Supreme Court Ethics Reforms: In 2024, Ginni Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, praised First Liberty for opposing proposed Supreme Court reforms aimed at addressing ethical concerns among justices.

Heritage Foundation

  • On July 2, 2024, the brash militancy of Heritage came to light after Roberts pronounced on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast that the nation is “in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.”
  • The role model for The Heritage Foundation is Hungary’s corrupt, autocratic Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a man Trump once called his “twin”.  In March 2024, Trump declared, “There’s nobody that’s better, smarter, or a better leader than Viktor Orbán. He’s fantastic…He’s a great leader.”
  • That same month, Orbán spoke at a Heritage Foundation event in Washington and told Hungarian media that “Hungary has an honored place” with The Heritage Foundation. Following Orbán’s trip, Heritage agreed to a “landmark” collaboration agreement with the Danube Institute, a bogus Hungarian “think tank” that exists primarily as an obsequious sock puppet to praise Orbán’s government.

The New Republic detailed the incestuous ties between Heritage, the conservative movement and the Danube Institute:

The Danube Institute began doling out significant grants to a range of other American conservatives, such as provocateur Christopher Rufo, who received tens of thousands of dollars, as well as a number of writers published in The American Conservative.

Most important, however, is the man currently running the Danube Institute: John O’Sullivan, a British conservative who once served as the director of studies at—you guessed it—the Heritage Foundation.

The two [groups] have already begun operating closely, co-hosting the Danube Geopolitical Summit last September. Featuring both Heritage and Danube Institute leadership, as well as a number of Hungarian officials, the conference centered on many of the aforementioned themes Orbán routinely highlights, railing against so-called “wokeness” in Western democracies. At the conference, James Carafano, Roberts’s key adviser at Heritage, “stressed the importance of building transatlantic connectivity,” saying he was “so proud to be associated with the Danube Institute.”

  • “We cannot allow the left to weaponize our election system. Mass mail-in ballots, ballot harvesting, and voter roll manipulation threaten the integrity of the republic.” — Hans von Spakovsky, Heritage legal fellow

Context: Spakovsky, a key figure behind Heritage’s Election Integrity Project, spread exaggerated claims about voter fraud. His work was cited by Republicans to justify restrictive voting laws.

  • “We need a wartime conservative movement to gut the administrative state. The next president must be willing to fire 50,000 bureaucrats on day one.” — Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation
  • In a Kevin Roberts Show interview with Telegraph journalist Steven Edginton, Roberts explicitly urged a warlike posture toward the federal bureaucracy. He said the next conservative president must “wake up every day and say, what part of the American administrative state am I going to destroy today? Not reform…destroy; fire the bureaucrats, close agencies…”Roberts also warned that unless Republicans show “backbone like [Margaret] Thatcher [and] Reagan” and “stand up to the Blob and…destroy it, we will lose America. Every tactic has to be oriented around that goal.” – January 24, 2024
  • Roberts portrayed the left as “totalitarian in its mission…practically jihadist in its…fanaticism,” warning that if they prevail “we will cease to be a nation at all” and become  “subservient to a religion without God, in a land without hope.” — NatCon Conference, July 8, 2024
  • The Commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics oversaw significant errors in jobs data for over three years. It was time to give someone else the opportunity to correct the inaccuracies.– Heritage post on X, August 4

Hillsdale College

Similar to the New School debacle, DeSantis called for a public school program, Civics Literacy Excellence Initiative, to receive $45 million in bonuses for teachers who take a civics curriculum class designed by Christian conservative Hillsdale College and the Heritage Foundation.

Some teachers who attended the program objected to its content, referring to it as “very skewed”. They were alarmed because it contains “a very strong Christian fundamentalist way toward analyzing different quotes and different documents.” The Miami Herald reported:

Those dynamics came into full view last week, when trainers told Broward teachers the nation’s founders did not desire a strict separation of state and church, downplayed the role the colonies and later the United States had in the history of slavery in America, and pushed a judicial theory, favored by legal conservatives like DeSantis, that requires people to interpret the Constitution as the framers intended it, not as a living, evolving document, according to three educators who attended the training.

“It is disturbing, really, that through these workshops and through legislation, there is this attempt to both censor and to drive or propagandize particular points of view,” said Richard Judd, 50, a Nova High School social studies teacher with 22 years of experience who attended the state-led training session last week.

A review of more than 200 pages of the state’s presentations shows the founding fathers’ intent and the “misconceptions” about their thinking were a main theme of the training. One slide underscored that the “Founders expected religion to be promoted because they believed it to be essential to civic virtue.” Without virtue, another slide noted, citizens become “licentious” and become subject to tyranny.

  • In 2022,at a private event with Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, President Larry Arnn mocked public school teachers and education departments, calling them “the dumbest part of the dumbest colleges.”
  • “You will see how education destroys generations of people. It’s devastating. It’s like the plague.”—Hillsdale President Larry Arnn
  • Hillsdale has been influential in promoting its conservative “1776 Curriculum” created to counter the New York Times’ 1619 Project. Opponents argue the curriculum downplays slavery, promotes American exceptionalism uncritically, and advances a right-wing political agenda. Critics also see Hillsdale’s influence in campaigns to restrict how race and gender are taught in public schools. The commission, a vehicle for indoctrination, was widely criticized by historians for lacking scholarly rigor and for political motivations. Hillsdale obviously blurred the lines between education and partisan ideology.

James Madison Institute

The James Madison Institute (JMI), a conservative think tank based in Florida.

Leadership Institute

  • Riley Gaines appearance at a campus speaking engagement hosted by the Leadership Institute. Gaines is known for anti-trans rights activism (e.g. opposing trans athletes competing in women’s sports). The event is described in OPB as part of a national speaking tour hosted by LI.

Moms for Liberty

  • The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) designated Moms for Liberty as an “anti-government extremist group” in 2023, citing “efforts to restrict inclusive education and advance conspiracy theories.”
  • In June 2023, the Hamilton County, Indiana chapter of Moms for Liberty included a quote from Adolf Hitler in its newsletter: “He alone, who OWNS the youth, GAINS the future.”
  • M4L chapters across the U.S. have actively campaigned to ban or restrict access to books in public school libraries, particularly those dealing with LGBTQ+ themes, race, gender identity, and sexual content.
